Property Locations – Full List
I am now in the process of sorting through the 3K places I’ve found and I will be revealing the location of the majority of these, but in order to get there I am sorting through them to make sure that what I will be posting is actually currently abandoned, or appears to be. There are numerous examples of places I found years ago that have subsequently been sold or brought back into use, so I’m removing these from my lists.
Oh, and to be clear, with a small number of exceptions, I will now be making every single location I’ve found freely available here. There is no guarantee that these properties are even abandoned, available, or of any interest whatsoever. However…if even a fraction of them actually are…and based on my explorations over the years, I rarely seem to get this wrong…this list represents a vast amount of potential locations, all ripe for something to happen to them.

And being realistic, it’s going to take me a while as I have to sift through a lot of information, and make sure it’s still relevant. This is one of my projects for the next year, and yes, it may actually take that long. However, it’ll all arrive eventually…keep coming back and looking.

To show you the amount of information that I will gather around the property I am creating a separate page for every list of properties, but you will be able to link to these pages from this page and they will always be referenced so you can return to them if you so wish.
The first property is one that I discovered a couple of days ago on a random search and it gives a good example of the information that you can find out and see online within the matter of minutes.
To find the property, copy and drop the numbers in each box into the map of your choice. I use Bing for initial searches and better visibility as for some reason they’re usually clearer.
The number format is 53.276095, -3.756829. These are the Northings and Eastings and are universal mapping references.
If the property is a definite ruin, I would use the Scottish National Library Maps OS mapping service to see what is listed there. By default I use the 1905 map as these are very clear.
There will be a lot of ruins on these lists. Don’t be deterred by this as they often sit on their own block of land, can often be in quite stunning locations, and the most important thing is the simple fact that councils are increasingly giving planning permission for ruins, sometimes literally a pile of stones, to be rebuilt in some form. If you see a ruin, look on it as being a potential building plot.

Every single property that I will be listing has been found by searching online mapping Google Maps, Google Earth and bing maps. Over the years I have visited as many properties as I can and have taken photographs etc but I have also frequently discovered that what appears to be abandoned does actually have signs of activity when you get there. Some of these properties do have signs of activity but still appear to be neglected or completely abandoned and will still be included on this list as then maybe people out there who wish to find them seek out and Owner etc and trying to buy them. the disclaimer is that I can make no guarantee that any property that I’m listing here is actually abandoned, only that there are certain signs that they appear to be. In every single instance anybody who has an interest in any of these properties has to make their own inquiries, has to make a visit to the property themselves to satisfy themselves of its condition and has to be respectful of what may well be existing owners, and people still living in some of these properties. Please tread carefully…
